November 17, 2000 Mr. Clem Mejia Regional Office of Education 210 S. 6th Street Geneva, IL 60134 Dear Mr. Mejia, Enclosed please find copies of correspondence, which has been received by Dr. Ed Cave, Superintendent of Batavia Schools, as well as members of his administration and the Batavia School Board. It has been seven months since our first correspondence was delivered to him and no response has been received to date regarding any of the correspondence. After waiting for what I feel is more than sufficient time to respond to the correspondence, I sent a letter to Rosalie Jones, president of the Batavia School Board, asking for a written response within ten days. No response has been received from her to date. Within the last week or so, the administration and board have begun sending surveys out to Batavia families requesting a response on very short notice; yet our request for information continues to be denied. How do we compel Dr. Cave and the Batavia School Board to give us answers to our questions so we may plan for our children's future? Time is growing short for any families who may wish to pursue alternative schooling outside the Batavia Public Schools, based on the answers that are received. A written response from you regarding this situation would be appreciated within ten days. Thank you for your time to address this matter. Sincerely, Donna Todd 1S445 Wenmoth Road Batavia, IL 60510 P.S.
