Dear Rosalie,

Enclosed are copies of correspondence that you received earlier
this year. I have numbered them to make it easier to reference
them.

1) A letter dated April 24, 2000. It was hand delivered to the
Board office on April 25, 2000 and read at the Board meeting that
night. It requests notification of work on a transition plan.
The six families whose names were listed on that letter have received
no response.

2) A letter dated May 4, 2000. It was hand delivered to the Board
office on May 4, 2000. The same six families requested to meet
with you to discuss issues and options related to the MI program.
No response has been received.

3) A five-page information packet dated July 25, 2000. It was
handed to each Board member at the July 25 Board meeting. It asks
the Board to provide information in a timely manner on how best to
proceed in order to generate a resolution to our issue. No response
has been received.

4) A list of questions dated September 12, 2000. These were handed
to Board members at the September 12 Board meeting. Two questions,
which are starred, were answered at the September 28, 2000 forum.
The rest of the questions have not been answered.

For over six months, the West Side parents have been asking the
same questions repeatedly with no answers coming from the Board.
Various members of the board have told us various things over the
last several months, but when asked to confirm them, you do not
respond. Therefore, we know no more today than we did six months
ago. I will again ask some of the same questions.

1) McWayne is referred to as a choice school. What is your definition
of "choice school"?

2) How did the criteria stated by parents at the boundary forums
(listed on January 18,2000 Board minutes) "maintain parent choice
about schools", get changed on later Board meeting minutes (February
29,2000) to read "maintain choice for McWayne"? Are you or are
you not going to follow the original criteria?

3) What exactly are the choices all current & future West Side
residents have regarding conventional instruction for their children?
Where will those children attend school to receive this instruction?

4) Requiring west side parents to apply to opt out of the MI program
with adequate reasons being given (this is what we've been told we
will have to do) is a procedure which discriminates against families
in a particular geographical location. No one else in the district
is required to do this. Is this still the plan the West Side
residents will be expected to follow?

I feel the Board has had plenty of time to respond to the various
communications that have been sent to you. Based on your answers
to these questions, some families may wish to seek alternative
schooling for their children next year. Therefore, to give families
adequate time to make inquiries or arrangements for their children,
I request a written response to this letter within ten days.

						Sincerely,
